Spirituality and Prayer

Through Spirituality and Prayer, one can experience a more fruitful life with the living God.  Forward Movement's Day by Day devotional book is available at St. Peter's Church or online, and Carol Mead's Holy Ordinary offers a daily e-mail "thought of the day".  We encourage the discipline of devotion time with the Bible, as well as The Book of Common Prayer.  Believe it or not, we now have online versions of The BibleThe Book of Common Prayer, and even a way to read The Bible in One-Year Online.

Did you know the front doors of St. Peter's Church remain unlocked all day and night?  Yes, 24/7, we keep open God's house as a quiet, nearby, refreshing, and sacred space for all people in the midst of life's noise and chaos.  God invites us into this holy temple; let us come.

CALENDAR: Church Year

Click here for the LECTIONARY of appointed readings and collects of Sunday and certain weekday celebrations of The Holy Eucharist, according to the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL). This link is a great resource for readers/lectors assigned to read during worship, and a way for one to study and look ahead at God's Word.

The Episcopal Church follows the Liturgical Calendar (aka Church Year Calendar) for weekly and daily worship, prayers, holy/special days, and church year seasons. Each liturgical season has a certain color associated with it. (You'll see that same color in the different "hangings" throughout our worship space.) We believe that God's Word and especially Sacrament become "real not symbolic" through the godly combination of these readings and when the people of God receive Our Lord in both the Bread and Wine into their hands and bodies during Holy Communion.

The Student WORSHIP DUTIES SCHEDULE is available through the ECOM Chaplain or student Worship Master of Ceremonies. All Sunday 5:30 servers (readers, ushers, crucifers and musicians) should arrive no later than 5:10 to check-in at the Sacristy (room by the organ door) for special instructions before worship. Student servers who must be absent should contact the Chaplain immediately with the name of the person replacing his/her respective role in worship. Our appreciation continues for those who serve God through the different roles appointed for each worship service, remembering the Congregation also plays an invaluable role in worship, too.
